Welcome! My name is Lisa and I write Army Mom Strong. When I learned my son, who is in the Army, was being deployed to Afghanistan, I was scared.
I had no one to turn to who would understand what I was going through. I scoured the Internet to get information about deployment and to find support.
I learned that we are all in this together. Our soldiers are doing the really hard work and we need to stick together and support each other, so we, in turn, can support our soldiers and the families that wait for them.
I found many Army Moms via the Internet – we provide support to each other, if only in email. It really helps!
I started Army Mom Strong because of an Army Mom friend who sent me a heartfelt message one day. I was feeling impossibly down and she tried to lift my spirits. She signed her message: “Be Strong. Army Mom Strong”.
So here we all are – being strong together as our children fight a war 6000 miles away from home.
I hope you will find the resources, articles, and musings helpful in some way to get through your child’s deployment. I also post information about our Military men and women who lost their lives while in service to our country, as a way to honor them and create awareness to please pray for their families.
To honor my son’s request for privacy, I will not reveal our full names or his location at any time. If you comment on a post, please keep your soldier’s full name and location private.
When my soldier left for a deployment to Afghanistan in 2009, it was possibly the longest year of my life. It was also a year of change of change for me as I discovered new strength and resilience on this Army Mom journey.
We are all in this together. Stay Strong. Army Mom Strong 🙂
